The Sylvania Campus Student Learning Center offers free, drop-in tutoring services to currently enrolled PCC students. In addition to tutoring, we provide an informal space to study and meet with peers and faculty. We are staffed by a combination of faculty, professional, work-study, and volunteer tutors.

English Conversation Partner Program

Meet one-on-one with a conversation partner.

  • If you are a non-native speaker (and a PCC student) who would like to improve your English speaking and listening skills, you may visit the center to work one-on-one with a conversation partner volunteer. Volunteers are available on a first-come, first served basis, according to the posted schedule in the Student Learning Center.
  • If you would like to volunteer as a Conversation Partner for non-native English speakers, please complete a Conversation Partner Application Form and submit it to Shani Ong.
English Conversation Groups

Improve your English speaking and listening skills. Everyone is welcome! Come join us in the Library, Room 144 (SLC Conference Room).

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 1:45-3 pm (Michael)

The program begins Week 2 of each term and ends the week before finals. Students may join these groups at any time on a drop-in basis. Groups are most appropriate for students at ESOL Level 4 or higher.

English and Math self-paced classes

Take English Skill Building or Math classes for 0, 1, 2, or 3 credits at your own pace with the help of our Lab Instructors.

Pre Fall Term 2019 Self-Paced MATH Lab Class

Are you enrolled in a math class this fall and looking to jumpstart your math before it even starts? Are you thinking about taking a math class in the future but want to improve your knowledge and skill first?

Register for a 1 credit ALC/ALM course the week before the fall term. Enrolled students will benefit from working at their own pace through an online program with the support of an instructor in the classroom.

This class will meet in-person on Monday, September 16th through Friday, September 20th (M/T/W/TH/F) from 10 am to 3:50 pm.

Register online at www.pcc.edu/schedule/ and type in the keyword “mathematics”.

Can’t attend a class before the start of the term? Talk to an advisor about registering for a 1 or 2 credit ALC/ALM class this fall while you are taking your current math class or to prepare you to take a math class in the future.
