  • Name: Matthew Walker

  • Position: Student Body President
  • Email: matthew.walker5@pcc.eduGet to know me: My name is Matthew Walker, I am a first-generation college student, and currently finishing my second year at PCC. I am working towards my Associates of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree, before transferring to Portland State University where I aim to earn a Bachelors and Masters in education to become a teacher. Inspiring the next generation of students as I was inspired by the ones before me to make positive changes in the world; never accepting it as it was, but what it could continue to grow and be with continuous advancements in all fields. My time as Student Body President has shown me the wonders and hardships of the positive change I hope to make outside of this position and through my future career path. However it’s important to have free time too, so when I’m not being president, I’m being an athlete as well, boxing in my free time while being a constant student to life. My primary goals for this year had been tackling student issues I had not seen or known of such as but not limited to; food/housing insecurity, affordability of basic needs/education/resources, and policy. I’m very fortunate to have been able to work towards resolving these issues with wonderful people, and I’m sure I’ll be continuing to do so outside of PCC once my time here is over. Being a student leader teaches so much, and it humbles too, but as a leader, student, and person always growing I’ve learned to continue looking at not only what I am, but how I can continue to grow and play a part in making the world a better place.

  • Name: Mi Tran
  • Campus: Sylvania Campus
  • Gender Pronoun: (she/her/hers)
  • Position: Director of Legislative Affairs
  • Email: mi.tran1@pcc.eduGet to know me: My name is Mi Tran and I’m a student organizer of ASPCC Sylvania. I’m pursuing a health studies major and planning on transferring to PSU after getting some of my prerequisites for physician assisting done at PCC. My ultimate goal in attending PCC is beyond taking the classes required to transfer to a university; I want to make a positive difference, even if it’s small. Ever since I entered high school, I got very involved with the community from being a summer day camp counselor and being a piano accompanist for my church to volunteering at a nursing home. During my free time, I like to read novels of any genre and go biking with my family. I also enjoy watching animal and baby videos on youtube. For me, a leader not only steps up to operate a project, but they also allow others to innovate their finest works, which requires humility. Being a leader is about inspiring others to believe in their capability to make a positive change. They bring out the confidence and strength in others because anyone can be a leader.
