Portland Community College | Portland, Oregon Portland Community College

PCC Foundation, Major Gift Officer

Background:

Crystal is a lifelong Portlander born and raised in N/NE Portland, where she has stayed for the majority of her life. As an alumna of PCC Crystal launched her first career as a pediatric dental assistant in 1995. After her daughter began kindergarten in Portland Public Schools in 1999, Crystal became increasingly more involved in community organizing and efforts to protect public education and develop parent leaders to address inequity impacting people of color and low-income communities. Over the decade to follow she worked in affordable housing, local campaigns, statewide child advocacy and finally returned to school as a first-generation, single, working mother in her 30’s. She continued on to complete a Masters in Public Administration from Portland State University’s Hatfield School of Government and focused her studies on nonprofit management and fund development.
