James (Craig) Elbon
All my life I have been around wood and construction. At a young age I helped my father, who was an “old school” cabinet maker. Throughout my life I’ve built and repaired boats, made various furniture pieces, Built buildings and remodeled homes. in 1990 I went to work for a large Portland based Hardwood Floor company. There I learned all aspects of the wood flooring industry. From installation of many types of flooring, sanding and finishing, floor repairs, job estimates and floor tools repair. I worked on basic & high-end residential homes, Historic buildings, sports floors, commercial floors and even dance floors on cruise ships. Currently I work for a hardwood floor supply shop where we sell wood flooring and floor supplies to contractors as well as DIY homeowners.
I started teaching the hardwood floor classes in 1996 and with the shared knowledge, thousands of students have been successful in doing their own hardwood floor projects in the Portland area.
