Portland Community College | Portland, Oregon Portland Community College

Welcome to my homepage!

My next class will be Math 20 in Fall 2020 for the SE Campus. I will be using a hybrid format to teach the class.  On Tuesdays, students will join a D2L Zoom meeting to go over homework questions and work in individual breakouts rooms in the online program, ALEKS. In your breakout room, you will share your ALEKS screen and be able to get help from me while you work.

You will not be required to use your camera with the large class, but it is helpful for me to meet you “face-to-face” when working on-one-one.  If you are not comfortable doing so, that is ok.  Students will be expected to spend at least another 2 hours a week working in ALEKS plus complete a written assignment a week outside of class time.  (Think as ALEKS as your “class time” and the written problems as your “homework time”.)  Homework is collected and graded via email or D2L.

There will be a Midterm Exam and Final.  My grade breakdown looks like this:

ALEKS                                   25%
Written Homework            25%
Midterm                               25%
Final                                      25%

I have been teaching Community College math for over 10 years now.  I love my job. My goal is to give my students the tools they need to be successful.  I hope to meet you in one of my classes soon!

Thank you!
