This course is the foundation of all other MSD classes examining the basic tenets and practical applications of fundamental supervisory skills such as planning, staffing, managing conflict, and problem-solving, and quality improvement.

In addition, you will have an opportunity to analyze how various leadership strategies can be used to motivate and coach employees towards success. You will be given a chance to examine techniques and tools to be effective in hiring, training, and assessing performance, all of which are crucial in establishing a positive work environment where employees feel valued and appreciated.

As you navigate through this course you will find Supervisors and Managers have many responsibilities that are time-sensitive, Consider registering for MSD 174: Time Management credit class to complement and add greater value to your skillset and to this educational experience.

Keep in mind, management is not a promotion, it is a profession with specific skillsets necessary to be an effective supervisor or manager.
