Introductory examination of the origins and manifestations of the socially constructed concept of race. Critical theory approach is used to analyze the manner in which the concept of race has been developed and interpreted and its influence on the social, economic and political relations between ethnic groups. Emphasis on racist ideas, theories, movements and key people and events in the evolution of race-based thinking.
