Instructor comments:

Students will generally work independently through ALC/ALM course material using a learning system called ALEKS. Students should be available to meet with their instructor and a tutor during the time for which they are registered. Students will be expected to participate in the course material every week for ten weeks. You can find more detailed instruction about this program here: spaces.pcc.edu/display/MS/ALEKS+Information

Unique to this course is that students are learning all levels of math ranging from topics in MTH 20 to MTH 243. The instructor's role is to facilitate learning to meet individual student educational goals.

There are three categories of students taking this course...

Option 1: You are taking ALC/ALM in addition to another MTH class you are currently enrolled in. The ALC will supplement your math coursework with a focus on the areas which you struggle. The instructor will work with you each week to determine which topics in ALEKS align with the topics in your other MTH class.

Option 2: You are taking ALC/ALM to prepare to take a MTH class in the future. The ALC will provide materials to get you ready to be successful your MTH class next term as best determined by where you are at now.

Option 3: You are taking ALC/ALM to retake the placement exam to place into a higher level MTH class. Your instructor will work with you to setup a learning timeline that takes into consideration when you want to take MTH and how high you'd like to attempt to test.

All of the above options will require students to be open to the guidance and recommendation of their instructor. Regular communication between the instructor and student is a key requirement of this course.

This is a pass/no pass course only. You are expected to complete the total amount of hours relative to the number of credits which you are enrolled.  Due to the high demand for the lab, students who do not complete the first week's assignment will be dropped. If there is space available, students will be added from the combined waitlist.
