Portland Community College | Portland, Oregon

Learn to use and love this classic, translucent medium. Explore basic painting techniques, color mixing and composition in a supportive environment. Dip into mixed media and expressive imagery while working from observational studies.

We will paint primarily observational studies of real objects. You will learn to draw what you see and observe how light is used to give volume to the forms. We will experiment with wet in wet and dry techniques. The focus is on teaching color theory, use of light and dark and composition. All levels have been successful in this class but it is geared to beginners or students with some experience who seek greater control and understanding of the medium. I am working to help you grow in your skills leading to success. Bring the supplies you already own to the first class. That night we will cover the supply list and basic color theory.

Write down the CRNs (ex. 22398) of your selected classes to register.
