This course provides an overview of the administration and management of corrections facilities, programs and field services. It provides insight into the role and purpose of effective management strategies for the professional delivery of correctional services. Prerequisites: CJA 100 and CJA 113. CJA 264-Correctional Administration focuses on the administrative functions associated with correctional facility management. It is designed to supplement the operational emphasis that was covered in CJA 260-Correctional Operations, however can be taken independently without the successful completion of CJA 260.
Course Specific Requirements:
Completion of CJA 113, Introduction to Corrections is a prerequisite for this class. The required textbook is 'Prison and Jail Administration, Practice and Theory,' 3rd Ed., by Peter M. Carlson. This is the same text that was used in CJA 260.
