Details about this class

This course requires attendance at synchronous meetings online (at the times indicated in the course schedule) as well as completion of asynchronous assignments and assessments. Attendance at the synchronous meetings is mandatory. If you need to request special consideration in regard to this attendance policy, please contact your instructor.

The time commitment for this course will be equivalent to the time that you would usually spend in the classroom on campus (1 hour per week) plus time spent on studying and completing a homework load appropriate for a 1-credit, college-level course (about two hours outside of class for each credit hour). This time commitment includes both synchronous work (e.g. class meetings, practice with classmates) and asynchronous work (e.g. studying, homework).

SPA 201, CRN 40183, that you see recommended in the course notes, is taught by the same instructor as this conversation section, and it occurs right after this conversation class.

Why should I take SPA 211C? In the conversation class,  you will have an opportunity to practice what you are learning in SPA 201. You will be working on your listening and speaking skills with classmates, with your instructor’s guidance and support. Students who don’t take 211C will have 10 hours less of practice of the Spanish language than the classmates who take 211C. 201 + 211C is the perfect combination to develop your aural and oral communicative skills, and communication is the main goal of our SPA program.

Technology

Required technology for this course includes a computer with a reliable Internet connection, microphone, and webcam. If you have questions or concerns about the required technology, please contact your instructor. Platforms for this course include Zoom, D2L Brightspace, and VHL Supersite (included in the textbook package sold through the PCC bookstore).
