Details about this class

Students are highly recommended to take SPA 203 and SPA 213C simultaneously.

SPA 203 is a four-credit course that meets twice a week for 1hr and 20 min (2 hr 40 min/week).

SPA 213C is a one-credit conversation course that meets twice a week for 25 minutes (50 min/week).

Why should I take SPA 213C? In the conversation class,  you will have an opportunity to practice what you are learning in SPA 203. You will be working on your listening and speaking skills with classmates, with your instructor’s guidance and support. Students who don’t take 213C will have 10 hours less of practice of the Spanish language than the classmates who take 213C. 203 + 213C is the perfect combination to develop your aural and oral communicative skills, and communication is the main goal of our SPA program.

We use PCC’s D2L site as the organizing and informational “home page” for our course, however assignments will be completed in our textbook website (the “Supersite”).  Students must purchase access to this textbook website, which will be used for SPA 201, 202, and 203 (no further purchases required).

Required technology for this course includes a computer with a reliable Internet connection, microphone, and webcam. If you have questions or concerns about the required technology, please contact your instructor. Platforms for this course include Zoom, D2L Brightspace, and VHL Supersite (included in the textbook package sold through the PCC bookstore).

This course requires attendance at synchronous meetings online (at the times indicated in the course schedule) as well as completion of asynchronous assignments and assessments. Attendance at the synchronous meetings is mandatory. If you need to request special consideration in regard to this attendance policy, please contact your instructor.
