Developmental Psychology: Characteristics, Objectives and Principles of Psychological Development

Our Course

In our course we are going to dive into the psychology of how we grow and develop through the lifespan, from conception to death, through the perspectives of nature and nurture. While learning about the psychology of human development, you will also develop your presentation skills by creating and delivering (through a recorded video, no in-person presentations required) a TED talk on a current event related to human development. To prepare for this presentation, you will build skills in searching for psychological research and argumentation skills in presentation delivery.

Want to learn more about TED? Check out: TED: Ideas Worth Spreading

Our course is in-person and meets two times per week. While attendance is required, I know that life happens! In anticipation of this, there are make-up assignments you may complete to earn back the points from missed in-class participation.

You will complete in-class activities, preparatory online quizzes, and project preparation assignments that will get you ready for your final TED presentation! In recognition of our busy lives and life in the time of COVID-19, all late assignments will be accepted without penalty for 1-week after the due date, no questions asked! I am always open to extensions and encourage you to reach out for questions, help, or requests.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

In this class you will need access to technology that allow you to record and upload a 5–7-minute video of yourself giving a presentation. You are welcome to record this from a laptop, tablet, phone, or any other technologies you have available. If you don't have access to these technologies, let me know! We will find a time for you to meet with me to get your video recorded :)
