Details about this class

This course requires attendance at synchronous Zoom meetings online (at the times indicated in the course schedule) as well as completion of asynchronous assignments and assessments. Attendance at the synchronous class meetings is required. Synchronous class meetings will be recorded when possible. If you have any questions or concerns in regard to this attendance policy, please contact your instructor.

The time commitment for this course will be equivalent to the time that you would usually spend in the classroom on campus (50 minutes per week) plus time spent on studying and completing a homework load appropriate for a 1-credit, college-level course (about one hour outside of class for each credit hour). This time commitment includes both synchronous work (e.g. class meetings, practice with classmates) and asynchronous work (e.g. studying, homework).

Students are highly recommended to take SPA 201 and SPA 211C simultaneously.

SPA 201 is a four-credit course that meets twice a week for 1hr and 20 min (2 hr 40 min/week).

For this section of SPA 211C, you can see recommended in the course notes that students are highly recommended to take SPA 201, CRN 42618, which meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-2:20 pm. SPA 201, CRN 42618, is taught by the same instructor as this conversation section, and it occurs right after this conversation class.

If the SPA 201 class that you have decided to take doesn’t have a specific conversation section suggested in the course notes, you are welcome to take any SPA 211C that fits your schedule.

Why take SPA 211C? In the conversation class, you will have an opportunity to practice what you are learning in SPA 201. You will be working on your listening and speaking skills with classmates, with your instructor’s guidance and support. Students who don’t take 211C will have 10 hours less of practice of the Spanish language than the classmates who take SPA 211C. SPA 201 + SPA 211C is the perfect combination to develop your communicative skills (aural and oral), and communication is the main goal of our SPA program.
