Details about this class

Students are highly recommended to take SPA 101 and SPA 111C simultaneously.

SPA 111C is a one-credit conversation course that meets twice a week for 25 minutes (50 min/week). Some SPA 101 classes have a recommended SPA 111C on the schedule because the conversation section meets right before their 101 and is taught by the same instructor.

If the SPA 101 class that you have selected does not have a specific conversation section suggested in the Course Notes, the preferred conversation section to take is the SPA 111C  offered directly after your 101 class from 10:30-10:55am as it is taught by the same instructor (Martin).  The CRN is 40375.

If you are unable to take this 111C, then you can take any 111C that fits your schedule.

Why should I take SPA 111C? In the conversation class,  you will have an opportunity to practice what you are learning in SPA 101. You will be working on your listening and speaking skills with classmates, with your instructor’s guidance and support. Students who don’t take 111C will have 10 hours less of practice of the Spanish language than the classmates who take 111C. 101 + 111C is the perfect combination to develop your communicative skills (aural and oral), and communication is the main goal of our SPA program.

Required technology for this course includes a computer with a reliable Internet connection, microphone, and webcam. If you have questions or concerns about the required technology, please contact your instructor. This course requires attendance at synchronous meetings online (at the times indicated in the course schedule) as well as completion of asynchronous assignments and assessments. Attendance at the synchronous meetings is mandatory. If you need to request special consideration in regard to this attendance policy, please contact your instructor.
