Details about this class

This course requires attendance at synchronous in-person class meetings on campus (days and times are indicated in the schedule of classes) as well as completion of asynchronous assignments and assessments. Attendance at the synchronous class meetings is required. If you have any questions or concerns in regard to this attendance policy, please contact your instructor.

The time commitment for this course includes the time that you spend in the classroom on-campus (50 minutes per week) plus time spent studying and completing a homework load appropriate for a 1-credit, college-level course (about one hour outside of class for each credit hour). This time commitment includes both synchronous work (e.g. class meetings, practice with classmates) and asynchronous work (e.g. studying, homework).

Students are highly recommended to take SPA 101 and SPA 111C simultaneously.

SPA 101 is a four-credit course that meets twice a week for 1hr and 20 min (2 hr 40 min/week).

For this section of SPA 111C, you can see recommended in the course notes that students are highly recommended to take SPA 101, CRN 42262, which meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30-11:50 am. SPA 101, CRN 42262, is taught by the same instructor as this conversation section, and it occurs right after this conversation class.

If the SPA 101 class that you have decided to take doesn’t have a specific conversation section suggested in the course notes, you are welcome to take any SPA 111C that fits your schedule.

Why take SPA 111C? In the conversation class, you will have an opportunity to practice what you are learning in SPA 101. You will be working on your listening and speaking skills with classmates, with your instructor’s guidance and support. Students who don’t take 111C will have 10 hours less of practice of the Spanish language than the classmates who take SPA 111C. SPA 101 + SPA 111C is the perfect combination to develop your communicative skills (aural and oral), and communication is the main goal of our SPA program.
