Details about this class

Welcome to math 251.  The goal of my teaching is active learning. One of my objectives in teaching is to facilitate learning by helping students to gain the necessary skills to take control of and become active participants in their own learning.  Our class will contain a lab component where students work together with other students to engage with the material and develop a deeper understanding of the material.  The book for this class is a free OER and we will discuss how to access it during class.

This class is NOT a remote learning course and will be meeting Face to Face for In-Person Learning all term. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you very soon!

The book for this class is a free OER and we will discuss how to access it during class.

Technology

MyOpenMath: This section requires access to an OER online homework platform MyOpenMath, the online homework system that accompanies the OER textbook for the course.

Video Lectures: This course will feature instructor-created video lectures for learning content. These videos will be embedded directly into D2L through YouTube, so there's no need for any special software.

Calculator: A physical graphing calculator is not required in this class. Instead, online graphing calculators (such as Desmos and/or GeoGebra) will be used in technology labs throughout the term and on some quizzes and exams.
