MA #1143 Oregon Industrial Development JATC

The MA #1143 Oregon Industrial Development JATC is registered to train apprentices in four trades: Machinist (MCH), and CNC Mill Operator (CMO). The MCH program consists of 8,000 on-the-job training hours and four years of core classes. The CMO program consist of 2,600 on-the-job training hours and 1.5 years of core classes. After all OID programs, the apprentice receives a journey card.

The MA #1143 JATC meets four times per year to conduct business. The Committee is governed by a policy document and a State-approved Standard for each trade. Please refer to the Standard for details about each program.

All apprenticeship classes are open enrollment and open to the general public who meet the required prerequisites. However, students are only eligible for a journey card upon successful completion of a registered apprenticeship program as administered by a registered JATC. To officially register for and earn hours through an apprentice program, students must be currently employed and sponsored by an approved employer. PCC is not currently able to place students in employment for apprenticeship purposes.

Machining classes for apprentices are currently available at the PCC Sylvania Campus and the PCC OMIC Training Center is currently planned to open Spring 2021. Welding classes for apprentices are currently available at PCC Rock Creek Campus, the PCC Swan Island Welding Center, and the PCC OMIC Training Center currently planned to open Spring 2021.

Both machining and welding classes employ a flexible open entry/open exit structure that allows students to begin their term 1 course at any term during the year. Apprentices in these programs should be aware of unique requirements in the machining or welding departments that may be in addition to apprenticeship requirements.

Booklists for all classes are available through the PCC Cascade Bookstore affiliated with the campus where an apprentice is taking their class. Books may be purchased in person from the bookstore or online from the PCC bookstore or any online retailer.
