Multicultural Academic Program (MAP)
Would you like to learn English and work toward a GED or a high school diploma? The Multicultural Academic Program (MAP) is designed for students who want to improve their English and continue their education.
The Right Fit
MAP is for students who:
- Are 16 to 20 years old
- Live in a participating school district: Portland Public, David Douglas*, Beaverton, Lake Oswego*, Sherwood*, or Tigard/Tualatin*
- Have a first language other than English
- Have dropped out of high school, will not graduate with their class, or have never attended high school in the United States
* Please note: If you live in the Lake Oswego, Beaverton, David Douglas, Sherwood or Tigard-Tualatin school district, you must be approved by the district to attend MAP. You can contact your school counselor or the district office to discuss approval for YES to College. If you need help, please contact the Intake and Outreach Coordinator at 971-722-6213. Your application cannot be considered if you are not approved by the district
Strong Support to Help You Succeed
MAP contracts with your school district to offer you a scholarship to the program, so there is no cost to you.
We want you to do well in the program, so we provide you with a bilingual College Success Coach. Your College Success Coach will be a counselor who offers advice; helps you get information about PCC; and provides you with referrals to community resources.
Ready for the Challenge
Through MAP, you will improve your English and begin working toward completion of a high school credential. A strong commitment is important, so you’ll need to attend class three to four hours a day. You are expected to attend every class.
