D2L Brightspace 10.8.9 updates for January 2019

Posted by

This release is scheduled to be installed on January 24th, 2019. In my opinion most exciting update to D2L this month is the changes to the HTML Editor.

HTML Editor Displays an descriptive error message

The HTML editor now displays a descriptive error message to users who click a quicklink to an activity that is outside the availability dates (not yet available or no longer available).  The error message appears for the following unavailable activity types:

  • Announcement items
  • Calendar events
  • Chat sessions (if the user is not part of a group chat)
  • External learning tools links
  • Templates (that are not available in the current org unit)
  • Groups (with expired self enrollment option)
Improved Rubric creation

D2L has improved the rubric creation process, rubric creation is now contained on one single screen.  When you click on New in the Rubrics tool immediately brings the user to the rubric authoring page. As well, the two previous Rubric Tool options Properties and Levels and Criteria are now condensed into a single Edit option.

Export Intelligent Agents history to CSV

If you use intelligent agents in D2L, you now can import the Intelligent Agent run history can now be exported to a CSV file.  The csv can include all the agents you have or a specific agent. The csv file can include runs made during a specific date range.  Having the csv file will allow you to better track your students who are triggering the Intelligent Agents that you have in your class.
