D2L CD 10.8 update for April 2018

Posted by

icon continuous deliveryThis month’s Continuous Delivery update has a few things that instructors may like.

Course Banner photo collection

Course Banner photos now include more diversity and more photos that show educational activities. This is great news because pretty alpine vistas may not exactly reflect what is happening in your class.

Role switch indication

Do you use the role selector to view your class as a student then forget to switch back? The profile icon at the top now clearly shows that you’re still in student mode.

Role switch icon

If you still have the Role Switch widget, you can get rid of that. It’s right up at the top now and available from every page.

Grading Discussions

When you select “Grade Topic” in Discussions, it now opens in a new window so you can move it around and see the postings to assess them. Yay?!?

Add bulk feedback to grades

Have you ever typed the same feedback for 20 students? Well now you can do that in one action with the bulk feedback functionality in the gradebook. When you’re in the Grade All are, select the users, click the Feedback button and type in the feedback you want to share. Just one caveat, students know when they’re getting boilerplate, so be careful not to overuse it.

More updates to Manage Dates

Manage Dates got some updates last term. But this update includes even more improvements (and May’s update will have more). Here’s what’s been added:

  • Quiz submission view names and dates
  • Quiz report names and dates
  • Topic unlock dates
  • Forum unlock dates
  • Checklists
  • Surveys

Not too bad, eh?
