As a librarian, I am most interested in learning how and if library materials are used by the community the library serves. This strikes many as dry stuff, but I find it interesting. I have written and spoken on various aspects of this topic to library groups around the country, and learned that the way to make money in publishing is to write a book on a topic, then give workshops on the topic, charging more than the cost of the book. That doesn’t make sense, but it is working for me!

In the near future, I hope to teach a class that combines games and historical research for people to explore how the First World War changed American society 100 years ago, and I have begun developing a lecture/program on the Poetry of the First World War.

For fun I travel, hike, see plays and bake bread. I have climbed Mt. Hood, South Sister, and Mt. St. Helens, but my knees have informed me that those days are over.
