Library Collections


Portland Community College is a member of the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a consortium of 38 academic libraries in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. PCC credit students, staff, and faculty can borrow more than 27 million items from other Alliance libraries by using the Summit borrowing service.  Results from other Alliance libraries appear in Library Search results.

Campus collections

PCC Library provides a collection of books, videos, music and more. The collection includes a wide range of formats, including e-books and streaming videos. In addition to materials related to the curriculum, the Library collects popular fiction, music, and films. The collection development statement provides details about the selection process. Course reserves

Faculty can submit course reserves to ensure that their students have access to course materials through PCC Library. Items placed on reserve may include textbooks, books, videos, and more. Learn more about course reserves.

Periodicals & article databases

Each campus library has a collection of print periodicals, journals and magazines. PCC Library also provides access to a large number of articles and online content through article databases.

Research guides

Librarians at PCC create research guides for every program at the College. These guides are collections of resources that help students and faculty begin the research process.

PCC archives

The Library maintains a small archive of College-related historical documents. This collection is available to view upon request.

Special collections

PCC Library’s special collections include Art in the Library, the African Film Collection, the Jackson Collection, a digital celebration of the College’s 50th Anniversary, and more.

E-Books & streaming videos
