Community College Survey of Student Engagement 2021

Overview

In spring 2021, 2,967 of 19,311 credit students (15% of the surveyed population) completed the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE).  The CCSSE addresses college practices and student behaviors highly correlated with student learning and retention.  The survey items are grouped as benchmarks in the categories of

  • Active and Collaborative Learning
  • Student-Faculty Interaction
  • Student Effort
  • Support for Learning and
  • Academic Challenge.

The 2021 CCSSE also included fifteen new items focused on understanding student food and housing basic needs insecurities.  PCC will present these “Students in Need” findings as a separate report.

*The CCSSE Overview Report, based on a template provided by the Center for Community College Student Engagement, includes PCC student respondent demographics, benchmark definitions with related survey items, and PCC benchmark scores.
