“Debate” was made in Fall 2020 – a time of isolation, wildfires, and political unrest. Frightened by the charged political climate of our country and the continual chaos and destruction that ravaged downtown Portland, this flag image emerged depicting my emotions about the upcoming election. I used gouache applied both with a pallet knife and through a stencil, collage images from current media, and water-based marker to add verbiage.
