This is a class project in which I experimented with the alla prima style of painting. I focused on rendering light and shadow, with an emphasis on reflected light. I chose this subject because I wanted to practice painting glass, shadows, and reflections.

The painting is an illustration of an art deco bathroom with a bold, symmetrical gold band along the wall which frames the bathtub. It is lit from above by a single chrome dome light, and flanked by bright fluorescent sconces that hang on emerald colored walls with shiny mirrors. In the center of the room is the bathtub, which is partly closed by a sheer white curtain.
