  • Can I submit an anonymous complaint about a possible violation of PCC’s Nondiscrimination and Non-harassment policy?
    • Anonymous complaints are accepted and will be investigated. Anonymous complaints do limit the ability of investigators to uncover information and the resulting outcome may be inconclusive because of that.
  • A student in one of my classes came to tell me that she has a disability and needs accommodation in my class. The student did not have the Accessible Ed & Disability Resources paperwork and did not seem to know about the process. What should I do?
  • I want to make a complaint but I am afraid that a person I identify in my complaint will get back at me somehow. Should I just complain anonymously?
    • See question one above about anonymous complaints. Retaliation is against policy at PCC. As it is stated in the Nondiscrimination and Non-harassment Policy: “No employee or student shall be fired, expelled, suspended or otherwise harassed or discriminated against because they have filed a complaint, internally or externally, or have objected to, or testified about a possible violation of the law.” The investigator will make this clear to both the complainant (assuming it is not an anonymous complaint) and the respondent during the discussion of the complaint.
  • How do I know if what I’m experiencing may be a violation PCC’s Nondiscrimination and Non-harassment Policy?
    • On the Office of Equity and Inclusion website there are links to the written policies including definitions, tools you can use to identify what has happened and who to contact to ask questions.
  • What is unlawful discrimination?
    • Unlawful discrimination is different treatment or denial of a benefit to a person because of the person’s protected status.
  • What is a protected status?
    • Protected statuses include race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, disability, veteran status, age, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law in any area, activity, or operation.
