Digital Photography in Prague

Overview

Through this program, students will explore and practice the skills, ideas, and issues of photography and the digital medium in the context of the city of Prague. This course teaches students to look at their use of photography and their roles as visitors to Prague as an opportunity to consider issues such as the role of Art as an agent of change.

Beginning at PCC, students will explore camera controls, composition, and how to use a digital darkroom. Once abroad in the Czech Republic, we will spend our days exploring Prague. The course provides many opportunities to engage with the folks we’re visiting, learn more about Prague’s past, present, and future, and reflect on what that experience means. Students will have the choice of enrolling in either ART 140A, or 240A, or 243 and earning a maximum of 4 credits on this program. The multi-course options will make the class accessible for the widest range of students, and give students the opportunity to learn from each other as a cohort with a wide range of skills in digital photography.
