Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate spatial visualization skills through the creation of two-dimensional drawings.
  2. Create and modify technical drawings appropriate to civil engineering applications.
  3. Export drawing files that meet industry standards and practices.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Individual and full class discussion; lab drawing assignments; exams; and final project deliverables may be used to assess
outcomes.

Course Content (Themes, Concepts, Issues and Skills)

Themes, concepts, and issues:

Themes:

  1. Civil, and related engineering students must be able to visualize objects in real space and apply them to a 2 dimensional paper and vice versa.

  2. Engineers need to be able to communicate with each other, and with construction personnel, using graphical representations.

  3. Use a CAD program like AutoCAD or similar to draw Civil Engineering related concepts.
