Woman and Child with Horizontal Stripes by Adrian Arleo

Renowned for her ceramic sculptures, Adrian Arleo is fascinated by the links between people and between human and animal worlds. Perhaps this relates to her studies of both art and anthropology at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA; she later received her MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Arleo’s work can be found in collections around the world. In this work, she explores the relationship between functional ceramics—in this case, a teapot—and the tradition of figurative sculpture.
