Course Description

Covers the identification of and determining appropriate materials for an intermediate-level costume, craft or prop. Offers a broad range of opportunities for using costume-related skills in creating, building, altering, and maintaining costumes or a costume craft for the stage. Includes hands-on assignments to explore and refine costume construction skills using professional-level tools. Prerequisites: MTH 20. Audit available.

Intended Outcomes for the course

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  1. Build, alter, and maintain costume elements for a Theatre Arts production.
  2. Choose materials and employ an intermediate-level technique to construct a character's multifaceted costume, or prop.
  3. Demonstrate an ability to time-manage and support multiple students working on multiple multifaceted projects.

Outcome Assessment Strategies

Student will be assessed on consistent attendance, participation, effort, and completion of projects assigned.

Content varies and is based upon the current theatre production, costume to be constructed, and student's skills and interests.
