Course Description

Explore characteristics of adult learners, & ways to incorporate them into instructional practice. Examine Understanding by Design approach to course design, apply to own courses. Compare a variety of formative assessment techniques to determine which might be most practical and effective in own courses.

Intended Outcomes for the course

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Apply principles of adult learning to course design and instructional processes.

Utilize a backwards-mapping process to design instruction to meet outcomes.

Use formative assessment techniques to improve student learning and increase instructional 

effectiveness
