Your SCC login name is the same as your MyPCC user name.
What is my SCC password?
This is the password you created when you activated your SCC account. It must be at least 8 characters long and can be the same as your MyPCC password.
How do I change my SCC password?
Click on the "Change Password" button on the Windows Desktop after you log in. After you change your password, you will receive an email confirming the change.
When do I need to reactivate my account?
You will need to reactivate your account at the beginning of each term. Use the red "Update Account" button on the welcome screen.
Why won't the computer let me take the orientation?
There are two possible reasons: 1) You are not currently enrolled in any classes at PCC; 2) You are trying to take the orientation the same day that you completed your registration and paid your tuition. The system won't recognize you as being enrolled until the day after you complete your PCC registration. If you show a Lab Assistant or Lab Coordinator your receipt from the Business Office, we can log you in with a temporary account. You will not be able to print until you've completed the orientation and set up an account.
My MyPCC or Blackboard password doesn't work!
To reset your MyPCC password, call the PCC Help Desk (Ext 4400); for Desire2Learn or Student Web Server (SWS) questions, call the Student Help Desk (Ext. 8222).
What is my SCC user name?
Your user name is the same as your MyPCC login name: your first name, followed by a "." and your last name, sometimes followed by a number. Example: jane.smith15
This is the system PCC uses to manage student printing. The GoPrint window will pop up every time you print something.
This refers to the funds automatically put in your printing account at the beginning of each term (currently $10). Your print quota automatically expires at the end of each term. These funds are separate from your "personal purse" (see below).
Your GoPrint login is the login and password that you created when you completed the orientation. Your login name is the same as your MyPCC login, the password is the one you chose when you took the orientation.
These are the funds you can add to your printing account via a credit or debit card. Your personal purchase account does not expire until the end of the Summer term. Please remember to switch your purse back to the term allowance at the start of a new term so those funds are used first. Your personal purchase balance does not carry over at the end of the school year (the end of the summer term) and can not be refunded!
Your account is charged $.07 for each single-sided page you print and $.10 for each double-sided sheet (2 pages). Your term allowance is enough for up to 100 double-sided sheets. Important note: Each print request is limited to 50 pages (sides). If your print job is longer than 50 pages, you will need to use the "Page Range" feature in the Print dialog box to limit the number of pages in a request.
Your account is charged $.07 for each single-sided page you print and $.10 for each double-sided sheet (2 pages). Color printing, available only in the Library, is $.25/page.
You can add funds to your Personal Purchase account. There is a $5 minimum and $20 maximum for added funds. If you have a credit or debit card, you can do this online by clicking the Add Value button in the GoPrint pop-up window. Important note: Your personal purchases do roll-over from term to term. However, this account is automatically emptied at the end of the Summer Term.
The Business Office can accept a check or cash payment to add funds to your GoPrint account. Bring the receipt they give you to an SCC Lab Coordinator who will credit your account.
You can get all your account information through the GoPrint pop-up window that appears when you print a file. You can also click on the small, red GoPrint icon at the bottom right of your screen. This will open a GoPrint window that will allow you to log in.
Yes. When you are on campus, you can go to http://pccprint:7768/action/InitialAction to log on to use the Web-based client. Important: You will need to go to the Student Help Desk at the Sylvania Library for assistance in setting up the PCC printers on your laptop. Beyond providing information about the initial setup, PCC cannot provide setup or troubleshooting support for wireless GoPrint printing. Important Security Note: PCC's wireless network is a non-secure, open network. Do not use the PCC wireless connection to add funds to your account!
If your job doesn't print for some reason, the charge will be automatically returned to your GoPrint account within 15 minutes. Our printers will generally remember the job that was printing when a jam occurred and automatically reprint it when the jam is cleared. If the pages do print but are unusable because of a printer problem, you can request a refund from one of the SCC Coordinators. We cannot provide refunds for user-related errors.
No. Your account will only be charged when you select a job to print (by clicking the checkbox next to request in the second GoPrint window) and click the "Pay and Print" button.
Food is permitted in the Sylvania SCC. Covered beverages are also permitted.
No. Please go outside the SCC if you must make or receive a call and either turn off your phone or set it to silent when you come into the SCC. If you are annoyed by somebody else's cell phone use, please report the problem to a Lab Coordinator.
We understand that sometimes you need to work with others in the SCC, however please keep in mind that there are students doing homework and taking tests.
Only wireless network connections are allowed. Neither students, staff nor faculty are allowed to connect non-PCC computers to the wired Ethernet network on any PCC campus. To connect to the wireless network, you'll need your MyPCC login name and your G-Number as your password (including the "G").
No. PCC prohibits the installation of any software on a SCC computer. This includes programs, web browser plug-ins or add-ons that are downloaded from the Web.
At PCC, only instructors can submit software requests via MyPCC. Software requests made and approved in the current term will be available in the following term.
Lab Assistants (in the red vests) and Lab Coordinators can answer basic questions and help you resolve problems with the SCC workstations and printers. For more in-depth help, we have a CAS tutor in the lab on a regular basis. The tutor's hours are posted in the lab.
The SCC workstations can only save files on a USB storage device; they do not have floppy disk drives. Each time a SCC computer restarts (whether the restart is intentional or the result of a crash or power failure), all user files are deleted. So, even saving your document to the computer while you're working on it has an element of risk.
Please contact a Lab Assistant (in a red vest) or a Lab Coordinator for help. DO NOT attempt to fix the problem yourself!
All computers in the SCC have an anti-virus program that is updated throughout the day. Files are scanned automatically when they are opened. If you want to manually scan a file, right-click on the file or folder (or control-click on the Mac) and select "Scan with Sophos Anti-Virus".
Items found in the SCC are held temporarily at the front reception desk and then brought to the main lost and found at the Information Booth near the main entrance to the Campus Center.
For the sake of your personal security, logging out before you leave the SCC is extremely important. For one thing, it makes sure all your documents and web sessions are closed. Secondly it automatically reboots the computer. Our security program, Deep Freeze, will restore the computer to the state it was in before you logged in, removing any files that you left on the computer, clearing your web browser history and restoring any settings you may have changed.
