Counselor Information

Counseling Experience:  Over 10 years of experience counseling students with disabilities in higher education. 

Teaching Experience:  Over 10 years teaching career and guidance classes at the post-secondary level and graduate Rehabilitation Counseling coursework at Portland State University, University of North Texas and San Diego State University. 

Counseling Approach:  Rehabilitation Counseling theory emphasizing client-centered approach to maximizing potential while eliminating barriers.  Collaborative and supportive approach to clients pursuing their full personal and academic potential, including solution-focused, holistic and cognitive-behavioral strategies.  

Formal Education: Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with a specialization in Deafness from San Diego State University, Magna Cum Laude.  Major coursework included: counseling and group theories, rehabilitation seminars, and medical and psychological aspects of disability. Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders awarded by San Diego State University.

Languages:  English, American Sign Language
