Seth Bloombaum, Instructor in Multimedia On location in Harrisburg, PA
Welcome to my Home Page For Winter, 2011, I anticipate teaching MM260, Video Production 1, and a new course, MM246, Post-Production Sound for Video.
Streaming News! Just published, a new book by Jan Ozer, "Video Compression for Flash, Apple Devices and HTML5" (Doceo, May 2011). Highly recommended! This is a required text in MM236.
It's been years since there was an up-to-date reference for video compression and streaming, and I'm very happy that Ozer has written this book. Publishers have been wary of video compression titles, because the content goes obselete so quickly.
However, it seems likely that our current online video technologies will be with us for a while. For what it's worth, my crystal ball says "refinement, not revolution" will characterize internet delivery of video over the next few years. The hottest current topic is delivery to mobile devices, which we will cover extensively in MM236; new for Fall, 2011 is video compression for delivery to iPad.
Registration for Multimedia Classes With the economy and the increasing recognition our program is receiving, it should be no surprise that Multimedia enrollment is higher than it's ever been, and is still going up!
It seems that any course in the 100 series, and any video-related course we offer will not only be full, there will be many students on the waitlist. We'd like to accommodate every student, but our rooms/labs hold 24 students, we only have so many cameras...
Best advice: Register early, register often, avoid disappointment. Declare your Multimedia major, and be among the first group to register for MM courses. Stay in touch with the department, we're working hard for you, that's why we're here.
