Japanese Cooking for American Kitchens
Japanese cooking doesn't have to be so... foreign! Andrea Obana of Daizu Cooking will show you how to create home-style Japanese dishes by applying traditional cooking techniques to local NW ingredients.
This class brings you home-style Japanese cooking in an accessible, sustainable, and local way. Native Japanese foodie Andrea Obana shows you how to apply traditional Japanese cooking techniques to your own American kitchen by using fresh, in-season ingredients that you can find locally, with only a minimum of specialty-store shopping. Class will be a mixture of cooking demonstrations and hands-on practice of techniques.
Many dishes will be vegetable-based, but some will be fish-based and some will have meat (pork, beef, or chicken). Many dishes will have a fish-based stock, but most recipes can be adapted for meat-free diets.
- Supply list: Students should bring an apron, something with which to tie back long hair, notebook/pen if desired, and empty containers for any leftovers.
