The Oregon Business Development Department (Business Oregon)  is sponsoring ACEs Small Business Management (SBM)  at the Oregon Small Business Development Center, Portland Community College.

The SBM class at the CLIMB Center for Advancement at Portland Community College meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, starting October 12, 2016 and continues through June 14, 2017. Class will meet from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the SBDC classroom (Room 307) at the CLIMB Center located at 1626 SE Water Avenue, Portland, OR (across from OMSI).

Each 3-hour class will be devoted to small business management topics and peer group discussion. We also plan to have presentations by public agencies about topics related to working with such agencies. Please note that this program is not designed to provide participants with contracts from the agencies themselves. Rather, Small Business Management is a foundational program to help you build a stronger business.

In addition to class sessions, each business will be eligible to receive up to 2 hours of one-on-one confidential business advising per month from an experienced advisor at the Center during the course of the program.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible to apply for this program, you must:

  • Own, or be a key employee in, an architect, engineering, construction or other professional services firm
  • Be currently licensed by the appropriate board of licensing for your industry
  • Have been in business for at least 12 months prior to October 2016

Normally, the Small Business Management program costs up to $1,500, but the agreement with the Oregon Business Development Department will reduce your tuition to only $200! A second person from your business can attend for only $150.

Acceptance in to the program is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is limited to the first 10 firms who complete the application process, including the documents required to reserve a seat in the program.

The deadline for applying is Monday, September 26, and you will need to complete the application process by providing additional required documents to reserve your seat in the program by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28.
