What We Do

Our goal is to mobilize community volunteers and other resources, make a measurable improvement in watershed health, create community partnerships focused on watershed restoration projects, provide technical information, training and support, to educate citizens about watershed restoration, and to create the foundation for long-term stewardship of watersheds.

SOLV’s Team up for Watershed Health mobilizes volunteers on restoration projects, building sustainable communities and healthy watersheds. Throughout the years, human activities have contributed to changes in watersheds all over Oregon. Urban and suburban development has shrunk or eliminated streams, stream corridors and buffers. It has forced polluted runoff directly into streams, and allowed invasive species to take over the landscape. Restoration efforts are critical if fish populations are to recover. Communities throughout the Portland metropolitan area are teaming up to keep the waters flowing! If we are to make a positive impact on our watersheds and reverse some of these effects, we will need to work together in partnership.

SOLV Spring Beach Cleanup

Come out to the coast to clean up Oregon's beaches. We have almost 45 sites from Brookings to Astoria where volunteers will be working to remove debris and trash for the beach. Not only is the beach litter ugly but it is also very harmful to wildlife. Every year scientists find dead birds and marine animals with plastic in their stomach. Come and be part of the solution to marine debris. Find more information at www.solv.org or contact Brett Lyon at 503-844-9571 x 332.

SOLV IT

Volunteer for Earth Day! SOLV will have roughly 100 sites in the Portland area where you can volunteer for the environment. Project activities include invasive species removal, litter and illegal dumpsite cleanup, native planting, and watershed maintenance. Find more information at www.solv.org or contact Brett Lyon at 503-844-9571 x 332.
