Our mission is to promote social justice by eliminating sexual violence in our community through education, support, and advocacy.

We do this through our 24-Hour Crisis Support Line, Case Management, Individual and Group Counseling, Prevention Education, Latin@ Program, and Program to Support Sexually Exploited Youth.

 Volunteers and Interns support all our programs in a variety of ways, depending on your availability and volunteer goals. We are currently looking for support in these core opportunities:

• Support Line Advocacy
  • Advocates are the first line of contact for women, men and  youth seeking information, resources and emotional support in Washington and Multnomah counties.  Advocates provide this service in two ways: (1) telephone response and (2) in-person response at hospitals, police departments and youth shelters.
  • Qualifications: Women who are caring, compassionate and open minded. Minimum age is 20. Access to a car during shifts and a good driving record is required.
  • Requirements: Attendance at SARC's 50-hour Supportive Advocacy Training (Training in January, April, July and October), 12-month commitment on the Support Line, and monthly Volunteer Meetings.

• Latin@ Program Education and Outreach
  • Latin@ Services Volunteers do outreach and education in the Latin@ community in Washington County about sexual assault and language and culturally competent support services for survivors.
  • Qualifications: Bilingual Women, Men and Transgender individuals who are non-judgmental and eager to connect with the Washington County community.  Bi-cultural preferred, but not required.  Minimum age is 18.  Access to car is not required, but helpful. 
  • Requirements: Attendance at SARC's 5-hour New Volunteer Orientation OR 50-Hour Advocacy Training depending on the scope of the Latin@ Outreach Volunteer's responsibilities, 1 year commitment, and regular meeting with Volunteer Supervisor

• Office Support and Small Projects
  • Help with clerical tasks, elaboration of training materials, or other small projects
