What We Do

The German American School of Portland is a dual language program where both the German and the American languages and cultures are taught and appreciated. We value the positive effect that learning a second language has on a child's intellectual growth and mental development. By being bilingual, our children develop more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to other languages and cultures, and a better ear for listening.

Opportunities for service with us

 

    • EVENT HELPER:  preparation, set-up and clean-up
    • Holiday Market (includes Decoration, Baking, Sales etc.)
    • Lantern Parade

 

  • ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS/WORK PARTIES:
  • Back to school work parties
  • Gardening projects
  • Facilities repair etc.
  • READING TUTOR: help individual students with their reading skills in German and English
