What We Do

We are here to tell the full story of Washington County, as a leader in Oregon’s arts, history and culture. As a cultural leader of Washington County, we innovate to better meet the needs of our county and create an understanding of our mutual past and shared future. The Museum offers unparalleled opportunities to experience and understand the complexity and richness of our county. The challenge for history museums today is to be relevant. We exist to help the public understand our mutual past and shared future. Our exhibitions and programs are the tools that we use to cultivate this understanding.

Opportunities for service with us

Family Saturday Volunteers: Do you like to play with kids? Do you like crafts and culture?n On the second Saturday of each month from 10am-1pm the Museum offers free admission, crafts and history activities to the community. The Museum plans all activities and provides refreshments, but can always use extra pairs of hands to help out!

Oral History Transcription: The Washington County Museum documents the history of the region through diverse oral history interviews. Do you have good typing skills and an interest in people's stories? You can work with the Folklife Coordinator to transcribe interviews. You can work on or off site on an interview by interview basis.
