Lift Urban Portland is a non-profit interfaith volunteer organization serving seniors and people with disabilities in Northwest and Downtown Portland. Founded over 25 years ago, our members include eleven churches and synagogues, several human service agencies and Legacy Health System. We work closely together and with neighbors and volunteers to assist vulnerable residents, providing nutrition support, grocery shopping assistance, cleaning assistance, organized activities, and other volunteer services, to help clients maintain independent living in their homes.  We welcome your involvement.

We have opportunities to staff our food pantry on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00-2:30 pm.

We serve lunch to seniors at the Irving Street Loaves & Fishes Lunch Site on weekdays. Volunteers are needed between 11:00am-1:00 pm.

Volunteers can organize and provide regular social activities for residents of low income high rise buildings owned by the Housing Authority of Portland, including holiday parties, summer barbeques, craft classes, and even the chance to grow vegetables at a community garden. We’d like to see gentle exercise, healthy eating and similar topics addressed.

Other opportunities include driving our vehicle to pick up and deliver food (background check required)..

Volunteers can also help out in our office doing computer related & administrative tasks..  We use Salesforce, an online database.
