What We Do

Our Mission

Hacienda CDC develops affordable housing and builds thriving communities in support of working Latino families and others in Oregon by promoting healthy living and economic advancement.

Nuestra Misión

Hacienda CDC trabaja para mejorar las condiciones de vida de las familias trabajadoras latinas y otras en Oregon a través del desarrollo de vivienda social con programas de buena salud, educación y avance económico.

Our Resident Community

Hacienda serves a community of almost 5,000 individuals annually, including both affordable housing residents and other low-income families in the Portland-area. Of the residents in Hacienda’s housing communities, roughly 60% are Latino. Residents typically earn between 30 to 60 percent of Area Median Income: $21,600 to $43,200 for a family of four in 2011.  More than half of our residents are children.

Opportunities for service with us

The volunteers who have been continuously involved with Hacienda have made our work that much more meaningful. We are grateful to all of those who have become part of our community with their work in activities ranging from homework assistance and youth empowerment, to neighborhood cleanups and event planning.

Interested in connecting with your community?  You can get involved and support our Comunidad Viva by becoming a Hacienda volunteer.  We are always looking for spanish-speaking volunteers to assist youth with homework in our after-school program, Expresiones. Contact Anna Gordon, agordon@haciendacdc.org, to learn more about after-school tutoring.

Also, spanish-speaking volunteers are needed to assist adult learners pursuing their elementary and secondary education certificates through our adult education program. Additionally, Hacienda CDC is currently seeking a bilingual garden intern.

Please visit our website for more information regarding these and other volunteer opportunities.  And thank you for your interest!
