Schoolhouse Supplies serves classrooms in need by operating a volunteer-run Free Store for Teachers, which is stocked with supplies donated by the community. Our store is a place of support and inspiration for teachers who regularly $1,700 dollars of their own money each year to purchase classroom materials that students and strained school budgets cannot provide. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Front Desk at the Free Store for Teachers
Tues, Wed, Thursday
1-4pm or 4-7pm
Friendly, outgoing volunteers are needed to staff the front desk of our Free Store for Teachers! Tasks include: checking teachers in, explaining shopping procedures, answering basic questions and helping with checkout.

Free Store/Warehouse Assistants
Tues, Wed, Thursday
Flexible shifts between 9am-7pm
Donations come in every day and we need your help getting them out on the shelves of the Free Store for Teachers! Tasks include: sorting, counting, organizing and stocking supplies.

Pick Up Partner
Varies
Volunteer to pick up donations from various businesses and organizations throughout the Portland Metro area. In addition to helping keep the shelves of the Free Store for Teachers stocked, Pick Up Partners receive one voucher for a shopping trip at the Free Store for each donation that they pick up (please note: vouchers may only be redeemed by Portland Public Schools (PPS) staff, PPS substitute teachers, PPS classroom aides, PPS student teachers, teachers from non-PPS districts and employees of 501(c)3 non-profit organizations - if you do not qualify to redeem a voucher you are encouraged to pass it on to the eligible shopper of your choice). Plus, there is no commitment to a minimum number of donation pick ups!

Inventory Data Entry
Volunteer from home! We need computer-savvy volunteers to help manage our inventory database by entering donation and distribution information into our user-friendly online system.

Be a Mascot for a Day!
Enthusiastic volunteers are needed to become our mascot, Pencil Pete, for various appearances throughout the year! (Must be between 5'2 - 5'11 to fit in the costume.)

Event Volunteers
Host an information table on behalf of Schoolhouse Supplies and help us spread the word!
