What We Do

On April 24, 2012, an inservice day, more than 1,000 local 4th and 5th grade students will attend the Children's Clean Water Festival at PCC-Rock Creek campus. No experience needed - training (and a free breakfast and lunch!) will be provided at the festival.  It's fun and easy!

Opportunities for service with us

Advanced registration is required.  Through classroom presentations, stage shows, and exhibits, 4th and 5th grade students will learn about watershed ecology and the vital role water plays in our everyday lives.  More than 75 volunteers are needed for this event.

Volunteer roles include:

 1.    55 Classroom Guides needed.  We'll assign you a class (the teacher and several chaperones stay with the class, too).  You'll guide your class around the PCC-Rock Creek campus for the day, keeping them on schedule.  This role offers fun opportunities to interact with the kids; plus, you're likely to learn a little (maybe even a lot!) about water you didn't already know.  Sign in:  7:45 a.m., orientation:  8:00 a.m., guide class:  9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

 2.    20 General Festival Volunteers needed.  This is "behind-the-scenes" work that allows the festival to run smoothly - setting out signs, directing traffic, assisting with lunch recycling, assist with bubble exhibit, etc.  Time frame 7:00 a.m. (help unload and place signage) to 2:30 p.m. (take down).  Can volunteer anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours.  Especially need volunteers for lunch recycling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
