The Emerson School is a charter school in the Portland Public School District, serving kindergarten through fifth grades. The mission of The Emerson School, a K-5, multi-age, public elementary school, is to provide a developmentally appropriate, meaningful and challenging education for a diverse group of children in an environment that recognizes, values and responds to their individual abilities and needs. We will nurture compassionate, capable and life-long learners who see themselves as being engaged members of their communities whose actions can make a positive difference.

Serve as a teacher's assistant in K-1 classroom. Help with art and music projects.

Students may suggest projects.

Also may help with grant research.

Auction Assistant

The Emerson School has an annual fundraising auction every November; an auction assistant would help with donation procurement.  Hours are flexible and can vary; the majority of the work can be done off-site.  Duties include contacting last year's donors, soliciting new ones, and sending letters, faxes, and emails requesting donations.  Duties also include keeping track of all donors contacted, donations received, and related progress.  Assistant to report to Auction Coordinator.  Perfect position for someone interested in nonprofit management, fundraising, and development.  Position can be one quarter only.
