What We Do

Growing Gardens organizes hundreds of volunteers to get at the root of hunger in Portland. We build organic, raised-bed vegetable gardens in backyards, front yards, side yards and even balconies. We support low-income households for three years with seeds, plants, classes, mentors and more. Our Youth Grow after-school garden clubs grow the next generation of veggie eaters!

Opportunities for service with us

Help install gardens on Saturdays. No experience necessary. If you can move soil or swing a hammer please join us for a fun filled day with other volunteers and Growing Gardens staff. Help with educational gardening programs, home garden, partner garden, and youth gardening programs. Join us on the first Wednesday of each month (5PM-8PM) for miscellaneous office work, refreshments and a good time with Growing Gardens staff and volunteers. Opportunities vary by time of year.
