They will go on to discuss how gender neutral bathrooms are a solution to the "bathroom problem," and help provide a safe and affirming campus environment for PCC's gender minority students, faculty, staff and community members. PT Faculty teaching in the evening or on Saturdays at Rock Creek can face challenges when it comes to dealing with unexpected situations that directly impact the classroom/learning environment. There are an amazing variety of situations that may occur during a class session leading PT Faculty to say, I dont know what to do. From tips that you can share with your evening or Saturday students on the first day of your class, to tips that will guide you through potentially troublesome emergency and non-emergency situations that pop up during your class, this discussion is geared to provide PT Faculty with useful information before a problem situation presents itself. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend. PT Faculty Stipends provided by the RC TLC.

Event Details: The Teaching Improvement Program has been on the Rock Creek Campus since 1988. It uses a systematic approach to teaching improvement based on your individual needs. A trained Teaching Consultant assists your collection and analysis of data, development and implementation of teaching strategies, and recollection of data to assess effectiveness of your activities. Your consultation with the peer instructor continues on an individual basis throughout the term. Come to this session to learn more about how to participate and how this program can improve your teaching. Facilitated by Chris Kernion, Trained Teaching Consultant for TIP. This session is designed to see if there is interest from faculty to participate in TIP this summer.

Event Details: The Rock Creek Teaching Learning Center proudly presents the Spring 2013 Faculty Workshop Series
Registration begins at 12:30pm with lunch buffet provided
Title:
Using Classroom Time Wisely: Content Selection, Impactful Delivery, Memorable Lessons
Presenter: Lisa Aasheim, PhD (Counselor Education)
Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will:
1. Understand how to select the most critical content for in-class delivery, 2. Know three strategies for content delivery that will address all learning styles; and 3. Understand at least 5 components of memorable, effective andragogy.
Evaluation Attendees will complete a brief pre- and post-assessment that allows them to measure their learning during the workshop. (This assessment is also used as a demonstration tool to teach additional teaching techniques)
Workshop Format I. Content Selection II. Impacting Delivery III. Memorable Lessons
This three hour workshop will help attendees use classroom time wisely by understanding how to select critical course content, how to deliver lessons that will leave the most memorable impact on learners, and how to help learners become active participants in the learning process. Attendees will participate in several demonstrations of techniques that are useful when working with adult learners of all ages, and attendees will leave the workshop with lessons that they will put to use when designing their future courses and lessons therein.
