If yes please specify:
Assignment description and sample topics:
I worked with Sara Seeley last term on an information literacy project for RD
115. This term, I would like to split that session in two. The first
session can simply focus on how to use search engines more effectively. In
the second section, I would like to move into library centered resources.

I have two sections of RD 115--one from 8-9:50 and the second from 12-1:50
and they both meet T/TH. Ideally, I'd like to have a session in week 3 or 4
to talk about smarter use of internet search. Then, in week 6 I'll introduce
their final media literacy topic and I'd like a session about broader library
resources for that class. Both sessions could be half a class--45 minutes
if that helps with scheduling.

Feel free to call or email me if it would make scheduling easier.

What are your learning outcomes for this session?
* Improved web searches and results filtering (session 1)
* The ability to pose a question and gather resources from online as well as

the second section, I would like to move into library centered resources.

* Improved web searches and results filtering (session 1)
* The ability to pose a question and gather resources from online as well as
databases and library assets (session 2)

In the Fall, the librarians tried a new approach involving topic selection
with regard to interests and values. I think if the students were better
equipped with the library databases and basic research, it would have been
better. However, it didn't go over well with the students. They felt
somewhat confused and didn't think they got much actual research instruction.

The students are in need of basic library and research help. In a past term,
the librarians focused some time to topic selection with enclyopedias and
other books brought into the computer room and I seem to recall this was well
received.

I am happy to collaborate with the librarians if it would help, however,
other than the different format last time, I have no complaints!

Assignment description and sample topics: The class will be working on an
"Analyzing a Text" essay. I would like students to learn about EBSCOhost and
other library resources in order to find secondary sources for quotations and
support. For example, film reviews if they are analyzing a film or scholarly
essays about Dexter or The Colbert Report if they are writing about a
television show. The "text" in "analyzing a text" might be something from
popular culture or a presidential speech--or even a poem. Also, it would be
great to help students with framing their research question for finding
secondary sources.
