Event Details: Do you want to have fun and burn off all that Halloween candy? Come join your Rock Creek Campus colleagues in a 50 minute Zumba fitness movement session! Don’t know what Zumba is? Zumba Fitness is a Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party. Since its inception in 2001, the Zumba program has grown to become the world’s largest dance-fitness program with more than 12 million people of all shapes, sizes and ages taking weekly classes in over 110,000 locations across more than 125 countries. Charlene is a licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor (active member of Zumba Instructor Network – ZIN). She has earned a Certificate in Dance as well as a Masters Degree in Adult Education: Policy, Foundations and Administration, both from Portland State University. For over a decade, Charlene has been part-time faculty at PCC teaching college transfer level jazz dance courses, College Survival and Success courses as well as non-credit jazz dance, integrated aerobic dance/kickboxing, and Zumba classes. Note: Wear comfortable clothes you can move in; layers are recommended as you will get warm during class. NO STREET SHOES can be worn on the dance floor, so bring a pair of shoes with you to change into before we dance. Bring a water bottle.

Event Details: The Teaching Improvement Program has been on the Rock Creek Campus since 1988. It uses a systematic approach to teaching improvement based on your individual needs. A trained Teaching Consultant assists your collection and analysis of data, development and implementation of teaching strategies, and recollection of data to assess effectiveness of your activities. Your consultation with the peer instructor continues on an individual basis throughout the term. Come to this session to learn more about how to participate and how this program can improve your teaching. Facilitated by Chris Kernion, Trained Teaching Consultant for TIP.

Event Details: Charlene Hansen, RC Evening Campus Coordinator, will lead this survival discussion. PT Faculty teaching in the evening or on Saturdays at Rock Creek can face challenges when it comes to dealing with unexpected situations that directly impact the classroom/learning environment. There are an amazing variety of situations that may occur during a class session leading PT Faculty to say, “I don’t know what to do”. From tips that you can share with your evening or Saturday students on the first day of your class, to tips that will guide you through potentially troublesome emergency and non-emergency situations that pop up during your class, this discussion is geared to provide PT Faculty with useful information before a problem situation presents itself. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend. PT Faculty Stipends provided by the RC TLC.
